  • The European Society at Queen Elizabeth's School was founded during 2006. Its aims are to raise awareness of our European identity throughout the school. Its founder members participated in the European Youth Parliament Debating Competition at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in March 2006 and also met Syed Kamal MEP who came to talk to the whole sixth form about his work. The European Society founder members were also invited to a private question and answer session led by Lord Grenfell, Chairman of the European Scrutiny Committee at the House of Lords. They were invited to sit in on the presentation made by Lord Ashdown to the committee concerning the application of East European countries to join the EU.
